There a number of things that every condo owner should try to check on regularly when they have a chance. Some times maintaining a condo seems like an easy task when comparing to a house, but there a still some items you will need to maintain inside the unit. These three things, would also be useful to remember for any house owners as well, but there will most likely be additional items that you will need to maintain as well. So for the purpose of this article it is intended as a friendly reminder for any and all condominium owners.
Check for Leaks as Often as Possible
You will find that sometimes there can be a leak from many different sources like sinks, showers, washing machines, refrigerators, and more. Even in the newer properties there can sometimes be some plumbers or appliances can fail or malfunction that may cause a leak in your home. If the leak is caught on time then the damage will most likely be minimal if any at all. How ever, if a leak goes unnoticed long enough it can result in water damages, mold, electrical fire hazards, and more.
Regularly Check the Air Conditioner & Filter
Your air conditioner may be one of the most expensive appliances in your home, this is why it is vital to maintain and check it regularly once a month. Replacement of the A/C filters is crucial to keeping your unit running like a charm. It is recommended in various sources to change the filters every 1-3 months, but if your budget allows we suggest a change every month depending on the type of A/C unit or filter it is. It is normally never a bad thing to replace it too early, but it can be bad when replacing it too late. You want to keep your Miami condos cool, especially during the summer.
Keep the Pests Under Control
As a condo owner this may sound like a task better outsourced, but you would be surprised how much you could control the pests on your own. Especially if money is limited, it may not always be cost effective to have an exterminator do regular inspections if you are able to do some of the work your self. We do recommend using a professional when it comes to insects like bedbugs, termites, and other more difficult pests to control. How ever, for some minor issues, like ants or spiders, there are many pest control products available at your local Home Depot or Lower hardware stores.
